Let me start by saying, surprise proposals are one of my favorite things to capture. The planning and anticipation, the surprise, the joy – it’s all so special and makes my job so much fun! Dan reached out to me at the beginning of December because he was planning to propose to Esther and wanted to capture it all. We spent a few weeks planning and discussing the different location options and how to make as special as possible. We eventually decided the beach in Laguna would be the perfect spot.
Dan told Esther he was planning a special dinner at the Montage in Laguna Beach to celebrate the end of the year – this was the perfect excuse for her to dress up a little and she wouldn’t suspect a thing if they wanted to go for a romantic walk on the beach. When they walked down to the beach hand in hand, I was there with my camera, blending in with all the other tourists and beachgoers waiting to capture the whole thing. And just as we planned, he got down on one knee and she said yes!
After all was said and done, we spent a little time before sunset doing a mini engagement session. These two are so sweet together and it was such an honor to capture this incredible moment for them! Congratulations again, Esther and Dan!
